Well the prevailing opinion of this set of photo's is that they are of the Kansas City Stock Yards.  In photo #4 there is a large building in the background.  If this rings a bell with anyone out there shout it out.

Looks like manure heading someplace!

Yes it's the Kansas City stockyards.  The building is the Stock Exchange Building at 1600 Gennessee Street, it's still standing.

That does look like the rear view of the KC Livestock Exchange building. The rear view faces the Kansas side, and of course the late, great Golden Ox steak house was at the south corner of the building. H

The Kansas City Stockyards owned a railroad that switched the stock yards, the Kansas City Connecting railroad. Wikipedia article has them at right over 9 miles of track in both Missouri and Kansas. I knew an engineer on the CNW in KC that worked as a fireman on a KCC job. He actually worked for the KC Terminal, they covered the firemen position, ATSF covered the engineer, the UP supplied the 3 switchmen, and no one talked to each other. KCRW287
