Nostalgia & History > Where Is It? - western USDate: 09/07/19 22:13 Where Is It? - western US Author: zephyrus Two shots taken at the former road crossing of a very storied piece of railroad. Took these about 2-1/2 weeks ago.
No hints yet, I'll bet someone knows exactly where this location is and what railroad built the line. Z Date: 09/08/19 02:00 Re: Where Is It? - western US Author: RailRat Highway 50 in Nevada?

but it may have rails under the asphalt still, and with better ballast i'll defer to the CP guess Date: 09/08/19 07:10 Re: Where Is It? - western US Author: EL-SD45-3632 dan Wrote:

------------------------------------------------------- > SP line near Pyramid Lake, Nevada? Ron Ross got the right line and nearest location. This is where the Fernley and Lassen Railway crossed Nevada state highway 447 about 1.5 miles south of Nixon. https://goo.gl/maps/B5UmJEGefvAdjKGS9 Much of this ROW is highly visible, and is walk / bikable from Wadsworth to just a couple miles south of this location. The line was abandoned between just south of Wadsworth and Flannigan on the Western Pacific in 1963. SP's AC-9 "Gila Monster" 2-8-8-4s were regular power here in the mid 1950s. The southern stub of the old F&L is still used for about a mile or so to reach the Nevada Cement plant just north of I-80. Z Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 09/08/19 08:20 by zephyrus.
