I remember chasing the steam version through southern Indiana at 70 MPH. That engine sure could move. Those were the days!

CP 2839 is now at the Nethercutt Museum in Sylmar CA.
Just north of Los Angeles.

I thought I was being clever. I was informed since the diesel was set up to run long end forward, this was also the engineer's side.
Thankfully Trainorders' members care enough to help correct a mistake. That means a lot.

When Southern leased the 2839 steam engine, they renumbered GP38AC 2839 (serial 37311) to 2887. When the steam engine lease expired, Southern renumbered the 2887 back to 2839, which it kept into NS.

Nice roster photos.  St Anthony IN is a very nice little place.
Thanks for your photo posting.

I have never gotten used to that flat front end on the Canadian.   First thing that enters my mind is "Marx".  Where is the sand dome?

How did it wind up on the west coast?
