CNW--odds and ends...
Author: ghemr

If you're a Northwestern fan you may appreciate this old stuff that I took with an old Kodak 126 (or 110??) camera. Scanned from photos and stored in photo albums, maybe they're starting to fade, break down or lose their color---who knows? Regardless I thought I'd share them........

1. CNW Track Inspection Car  California Ave. Coach Yard  Chicago 1979 or 1980

2. CNW Baldwin S12m 1120 California Ave. Coach Yard  Chicago 1980

The Baldwin switcher reminds me of K&IT.  They had a small fleet of Baldwin switchers plus a lrrger fleet of FM switchers.  The grounds of the elementary school I attended adjoined the K&IT mainline so I saw a lot of activity.  Also an occasional L&N Baldwin would pull over a transfer.

The RDC is more interesting. It is self propelled Track Inspection Car C&NW #430 converted from a BUDD RDC3 originally built for the New Haven as their #130.  Presently #430 resides at the Indiana Railway Museum in French Lick IN.

Thanks for posting these interesting photos.

ALLEN
