Meet Monday, WP . . .

.   .   .   back on a NOV '73 trip up to WP country, a westbound was meeting an eastbound in the siding at Kramm, CA, a few miles north of Oroville.

What elevation is it.  Looks like snow made it down there.

Kramm is only about 400 feet above sea level.

What you're seeing is the sun baked dry grassy hills!

During my 15 years in the Sacramento area, I saw it snow in the valley at least twice; so it wasn't beyond belief.  The photo sure look like there is a dusting so snow but apparently not.

Great photo- and good timing between trains and you pushing the shutter button to also catch "Rocky" next to the WP units.

If you have been there in the summer like when this picture was taken, you would realize that it is dead grass not snow.

Great photo, Joe.  Love the peek at Rocky up front.  Were those BN units an SD45 and a GP30?

Yep, 45 30, making this an "Inside Gateway" train. Pigs on the other most likely makes it a mainline train for UT.

Sorry, I’m a native Californian, summer dry grass is not white. Look at the date. November
