Here is a shot from the same vicinity, around Park Lane, north side of Hagerstown, of an eastbound train on the Lurgan Subdivision. In those days, you never knew what to expect for power for trains on the Lurgan Subdivision. It was a mix of Reading and WM power, with occasional B&O and N&W units showing up. Heavy eastbounds would sometimes get a rear helper out of Hagerstown, to assist on the 0.7% eastbound grades to Lurgan. The helpers were usually WM power and would usually cut off at Lurgan and return to Hagerstown. The helpers were most common on coal trains. WM and Reading crews shared the work on trains between Rutherford and Hagerstown, roughly in proportion to the split of mileage between the two carriers. WM ownership ended at Lurgan, 33 miles east of Hagerstown. Date was June 14, 1975.
