Like all railfans, I have many regrets over what I decided to shoot, or not shoot, through the years. In the mid- to late-80s I made many trips to OK to shoot the MKT since I figured it wasn't long for this world, not realizing at the same time UP's usage of ex-KO&G trackage was not long for this world either. The MKT was a better and easier chase through eastern OK, but why I didn't even try to shoot the rarely-seen KO&G baffles my mind to this day. However, I did get a few trains coming off the KO&G in (beautiful) Durant to join the Katy at KO&G Jct., which I guess I should be glad that I did. Here's an example of a SB UP freight on the KO&G in the first shot and getting the light at Durant to come south on the Katy. Both in 1987, not sure when the KO&G was downgraded? JG
