Forty Plus Years Ago (60) - SHRT
Author: refarkas

Here is an image (and a closer crop) of the east end of the Shaker Heights Rapid Transit Van Aken line. This was taken in the late 1960's/early 1970's in Cleveland. From left to right are SHRT 74, 45, 65, 48, 84, and 77. PCC car SHRT 74 at the far left has its doors open to load riders. The rest are inside the turnback loop.
1.) A wider look.
2.) A closer crop.

Cool stuff Bob- you should try to do some "then and now" photos, so much has changed...

It has been many years since I was there. I'll let a younger railfan show what this looks like now.

Well, I took a shot at it. You can't get to the exact right spot on G. Earth. At least you can still see tracks at lower right. I've never been there in person, so I can't exactly place the loop.

Thanks for finding this "now" scene. Since the new rapid cars are bi-directional, they don't need a loop. The loop was removed years ago.
