Cruising Down the Railway on a Sunny Afternoon - 1984

On March 11, 1984, SOU #3299, 3232, & 3271 (three SD40-2's) had a roll on this unit train of empty hoppers at Prestonia in Louisville, KY.  The train's destination was the coalfields in western Indiana.  The crew certainly had nice sunny late winter weather for this run.

Miss those Southern engine consists.
Really nice shot in Louisville.

Those high short hood Southern locomotives look even more powerful than their low nose relatives.
