Nostalgia & History > Same Train, Same Location, Two ViewsDate: 03/26/20 07:58 Same Train, Same Location, Two Views Author: MaryMcPherson Here are a pair of slides that found their way into my collection several years apart. These photos were taken on the morning of Feburary 25th, 1989, of the same train, at the same location, by two different photographers.
The train is a northbound empty Illinois Central grain train, seen crossing Dillinger Road at the north end of North Yard at Carbondale, Illinois. The lead unit is freshly repainted GP10 #8214, with GP38 #9537 in much more worn "new image" paint and SD40 #6066 in worn ICG paint trailing. The first photo was taken by Greg C. Sieren, who was standing behind the crossing bungalow visible in the second photo from the camera of John E. Carpenter. ALLEN Date: 03/26/20 15:43 Re: Same Train, Same Location, Two Views Author: MaryMcPherson I'm just glad there were several people out there shooting good stuff at "my spots" when my cameras were crap!
