Making track speed!

Eastbound BNSF Z train at Ortho road west side of Ft. Madison, Iowa April 1998.  This is on the BNSF Marceline sub.  Interesting array of power.

Still looked/felt very much like an ATSF TOFC train.   The late 90's were very interesting power wise in the BNSF.

CEO Robert Krebs remarked at a town hall about this time that BNSF had a lot of locomotives that were "too dead to kill".   

Making 70 MPH nonetheless....love the squeaking of springs as they bounce over imperfections in the track.  Thanks for posting.  BSB

Fun video.   It's amazing it can all stay together at 70 mph.   Trailers bouncing, flanges sheering the insides of rail on a straight-away, and all kinds of rockin and rollin.

Even more amazing that they used to do 80+ with these trains back in the day when speeding was normal
