Author: EagleChampion1 Amtrak SDP40F's numbers 551 to 559, 566 to 572, 580 to 581, 583 to 587 and 620 to 629 assigned to operate on the Southern Pacific had Icicle Breakers installed on front and back of the roofs in December 1974 to protect the Dome Cars on Trains 1 and 2 the Sunset Limited, Trains 5 and 6 the San Francisco Zepher and Trains 11 and 14 the Coast Starlight.
In additon, Amtrak SDP40F's 580 to 581, 583 to 587 and 620 to 629 maintained by BN in Denver CO assigned to Trains 5 and 6 the San Francisco Zepher operating on the Southern Pacific had extra Icicle Breakers installed in front of the Horns to protect them from damage during in 1975. The other units were maintain by SP in Los Angeles CA. |
