SP E7 question
Author: BNModeler

On SP's E7's, centered over the road number, there is either a square or triangle above the number.
Anyone know what it was and why it was?
Thanks

Triangle for non-turbo engines that have a Cyclone spark arrestor.
Circle or "dot" for  a unit with turbocharged engine which did not need the spark arrestor.
Diamond for spark arrestor equipped units.

All per SP Painting and Lettering Guide, Second Edition.

Not an E7, but a diamond (arguably a square) was also used. http://www.ssloan.net/trains/sp/_images0003/ssw3645_01.jpg. Any idea what a diamond means?
