I didn't think EMC could get 6000hp from 4 engines in 1939. How did they get 6000hp in the Seaboard units?

SAL used three 2000 hp E4 units on the Orange Blossom Special. Each E4 unit had two 1000 hp
diesel engines.

Thank you for that explanation. Makes sense now. I didn't see there were three units in that consist (if they called it that back then when they may have all been considered on paper to be "one" engine).

How about 3 2000HP E Units? Each E Unit had two 1000HP 12-567 engines, and 3 units would total 6 engines, i.e. 6000HP.

No, as the E Units were NOT draw-bar connected, like FTA & FTB units.
