L&N Baxter Avenue Station - 1987
Author: krm152

The station was located on the L&N’s elevated LCL Mainline off of Baxter Ave. in Louisville, KY. This station was constructed around 1936 in conjunction with L&N's mainline elevation project that involved elevating their tracks from south of MN Tower, near the Bourbon Stock Yards, to just north of Kentucky St. The station included a small mail handling facility. The Baxter Avenue Station was a convenience for some east end Louisville rail travelers.
The posted photos of L&N Baxter Avenue Station were taken in June 1987.

The station building, a later target of severe vandalism, has since been razed.
The platforms and canopies remain.

Nice find and images on this rarely seen station.
I'm amazed that the platforms are still there.

Love it!  This stop would have saved quite a bit of time as opposed to riding all the way to Union Station.  Did C&O's trains from the east ever stop here?
