At the Engine Terminal in Salt Lake City - 1982

On Tuesday, July 20, 1982, D&RGW #5310, an EMD SD9, was awaiting its next assignment at D&RGW's Salt Lake City Engine Terminal. #5310 had a break from the hot summer sun as it had ducked behind some clouds for a few minutes to my chagrin. The D&RGW scheme went well with the SD9’s lines. A washing would have helped #5310’s appearance.

You are right. That paint scheme really looked good on 5310.

While I spent much time exploring the ins and outs of Union Pacific's SLC yard and diesel shops several miles north, I never could figure out how to get to Roper Yard and take any pictures!
