A day late, but for Independence Day, here are 2 scanned slides of appropriately-painted engines from my collection, both Kodachromes by Jim Claflin:

1) CRI&P #652, Chicago, Friday, May 14th, 1976.

2) MP #1976 & #1776, St. Louis, Sunday, April 4th, 1976.

RI 652 was taken at the 47th Street Rocket House (engine house) and those were the Robert Taylor (?) appartments in the background.

Never noticed the "Dont tread on me" flag and "20th Century RR Club" logo on 652.
