Date: 08/12/20 16:19 Re: UP Pomona Depot 1959 Author: Topfuel Back when that part of Pomona was still a decent area. That is a great shot because I don't think I have ever seen a picture of that depot. As a matter of fact I don't think I have ever seen a good photo of the short-lived replacement depot either.

Bob Krieger Cheyenne, WY Date: 08/12/20 17:57 Re: UP Pomona Depot 1959 Author: PasadenaSub Great look at the UP depot. Looks like 1st Street was reconfigured to run much closer to the UP main once the depot was torn down. Probably only 10-15' separate the road and the railroad through some parts of downtown these days.

IIRC UP put in a much smaller passenger shelter as part of the construction when the Garey Ave grade seperation project was built in the 60's. Garey Ave went under the SP and UP tracks. Photo taken in May 1971, waiting for the last CoLA to come through. (Photo was taken by my father while I was away at school.) I occasionally spent a few afternoons at the old depot after grade school. No pictures (or camera) of course.

Now we need the Metrolink platform. Date: 08/13/20 00:01 Re: UP Pomona Depot 1959 Author: mp51w If you take the portico off the old depot, it almost looks like a suburban home from the 1960's!
That modern brick and glass depot is pretty sharp! They spent some money there! Date: 08/13/20 00:53 Re: UP Pomona Depot 1959 Author: Evan_Werkema photobob Wrote:

I've been wondering what it looked like. Date: 08/13/20 08:51 Re: UP Pomona 1971 Author: timz Why the kink in the track east of the new depot?
Is it still like that? Date: 08/13/20 09:08 Re: UP Pomona Depot 1959 Author: PasadenaSub Here's an overview of the area as it appeared in April of 2014. The original UP (LA&SL) main is in the foreground, with the DPs of an eastbound stack train passing the SP depot on the original SP line to the left.
Photo taken close to the Main St. grade crossing west of the depot looking east. The Metrolink platform can be seen just ahead to the right, with the pedestrian overpass in the distance.
