Nostalgia & History > Bailey Yard: Faces of the past .....Date: 09/20/20 06:45 Bailey Yard: Faces of the past ..... Author: valmont On Sept. 4, 1976 I found what was then not an unusual scene at UP's Bailey Yard @ North Platte. A picture showing the 'face of change' of US railroads .... the only one left rolling is lurking in the background ... showing it's enduring paint scheme.

Lance Date: 09/20/20 07:29 Re: Bailey Yard: Faces of the past ..... Author: IC1038west A terrific image from Saturday September 4, 1976! A great Sunday morning eye opener for 2020. Looks like the hostler was having to fire up one of the units in the SP consist to the left. A lot of variety. Back when the power tracks were colorful. Thanks for being there.

The images of Bailey yards' past is much more enjoyable than what is presently happening to the yard which will change the face of its' future. I totally appreciated Baileys colorful beauty before the mergers. Unfortunately, the PSR beast is still hungry, as it will be until the assets consumed satisfy the short term investors and the bone pile is dumped in somebody elses' lap. It really makes me grateful of the time these photographers spent at Bailey before the carrier became totally distracted, corporately. Thanks again for a colorful Bailey.
