one from the old office . . .
Author: 3rdswitch

.   .   .   the office being the right hand seat in a locomotive. Back in JUL '87, while heading over to Santa Fe's old First Street yard, located along the concrete lined LA River between Redondo Junction and Mission Tower on the Santa Fe, or west side, an SP "Hauler" was heading east across the river using UP trackage rights, led by a quartet of former passenger units. During this period, SP often lashed together like models for hauler service in the LA basin.
