BN at Trinidad and Paradise in the 1980's
Author: BrianA

Here are three BN scenes from the 1980's.

1)  BN's eastbound SPH rounds Trinidad Loop on the ex-GN between Wenatchee and Spokane, WA 7-7-84.  Power up front is the 6805/8113/6641/8166 (SD40-2/SD40-2/F45/SD40-2)  Anyone know what SPH stood for?  I always thought it was Seattle/Portland to Houston but I was told that is not correct as Portland, OR trains all went out the Columbia Gorge.

2)  BN caboose 12297 bringing up the rear of the same BN SPH at Trinidad, WA.  I'm glad I photographed the BN caboose but also pleased I included the Santa Fe trailer which was pretty nice too.

3)  BN GP9 1835 (ex-GN 683) sits outside the ex-NP Paradise, MT depot 4-24-87 about 6 months before MRL came onto the scene.  The 1835 would stick around after the MRL sale and become MRL 108.

Here I thought BN cabooses had silver roofs.

Actually, I thought that they did too now that you mention it.  Even the smoke jack is fresh green.
