BN coal train Alliance, NE.
Author: hank

A loaded coal train approaching Alliance, Nebraska in 1984.  Comments and other noise provided by my 5 year old daughter , who was my frequent train chase buddy.

Thanks for viewing.

Thanks Ron.  What is your now 41 year old daughter up to, and does she still watch trains with you?  None of my three daughters ever took an interest.

Love the audio, savor the moment and thanks for allowing us to join in.

Since I don't have much to do during this Corona virus, (and since I seem to be afflicted with the inability to
watch a passing train in real time or on film/video without counting the cars, a result of a career of rolling-by
trains and watching for defects), I rolled this one.

My view shows the 48th car of this 102 car train, (with caboose), has both ends painted white indicating it is
equipped with rotary couplers on each end. It is also the only car so equipped.

Now, a question for the 'coalie' experts; did/do all unit coal trains that relied on rotary dumping have such a  'double-ended'
rotary car; was/is it always/generally placed mid-train and why? If I ever knew the answer, time is working its inevitable best
to erase this from my memory bank. Thanks!

Thanks for posting,  The commentary from the narrator makes the video of a typical coal train of the day that much more special.

Hi Tim. She was a great companion into her teenage years. Then as with most girls, she got into education and sports. We still talk trains on rare occasions.
