Nice video, was surprised to see a caboose. Did they stick around a little longer on the Syskiyou?

Yes, SP ran cabooses right until the end of their operation on the Siskiyou.

The Siskiyou was ABS and Train Orders, so they needed somebody on the rear to line back.

 By the time this film was shot there wasn't anything to line behind for - meets were practically unheard of by then.

They did go caboose-less in the early 90's but I cannot remember the exact year.

Video shot just south of Creswell. SP was using blocks at the end to dispatch the branch. Did they call it DTC? I ended up with the Wolf Creek block sign. Wag

Yes, the Siskiyou was under DTC authority.

I believe Donald Sims referred to it as the boxcar railroad.  This is a good example of why.
