Bob,
Remember my first trip through Hermosa Tunnel?  I had all sorts cinder souveneirs including about six holes burned in my shirt, and a singed ear.   Took three shampoos to wash my hair  (I had hair back then).  You and Mr Lee were laughing your ...... off.   Unforgettable experiences, both cab rides.

Miller

Hey, I was  a passenger on that UP 3985 excursion over Sherman Hill when it was still a coal burner . Got a bunch of really fine slides. Also got my arm and the side of my face lightly burned from a sudden line side fire from the cinders west of Harriman on a photo stop . A couple of fans helped me out with stomping out the fire .   We had so many photo stops I lost count . The lighting for the return trip from Laramie was unique for the photo stops. I'll never forget the sight of Bob Krieger when he climbed down from the cab of the 3985 in Cheyenne. He was coal black from head to toe and you could only make out the whites of his eyes on that darkened platform in Cheyenne.  That was one of the best excursions I ever rode. Steve Lee and his crew and the Intermountain NRHS Chapter really put on a GREAT show.    --Kelly
