Nostalgia & History > Bangor & Aroostook SW 9Date: 11/26/20 19:21 Bangor & Aroostook SW 9 Author: srman I have never been to Maine so when I found Bangor & Aroostook SW9 33 sitting at Latonia Ky on August 10,1991 I thought I'd better get a couple of shots of this. Didn't have a pole filter for the second shot.

Gary Date: 11/27/20 05:22 Re: Bangor & Aroostook SW 9 Author: briancdn That was a great catch! Looked a lot better in those colors than the drab black it wore when I saw it in 1976 at Northern Maine Jct! I always wondered why their switchers never recieved the classy dark blue of road units.

Bob Date: 11/29/20 18:38 Re: Bangor & Aroostook SW 9 Author: Lackawanna484 BAR had a deal for a while where it swapped power to Pennsylvania Railroad during PRR's busy season, in return for help during the Maine potato season. Back when Maine was a leader in US potato production, there was a constant flow of potato trains all over the US.
Even had State of Maine potato boxcars. |
