Nostalgia & History > Gulf Breeze on the L&NDate: 11/28/20 05:28 Gulf Breeze on the L&N Author: gcm Dec 90
The northbound Gulf Breeze is near Flomaton,Al on CSX ex-L&N line. The train operated from 1989-1995 between Mobile and Birmingham and connected with the Crescent in Birmingham. I rode it a couple times and it was fun. Heritage equipment and fast running on the L&N route. F40PH 201 was one of the first of those units, numbering began at 200. Thanks for the excellent Amtrak post. ALLEN Date: 11/28/20 12:37 Re: Gulf Breeze on the L&N Author: ctillnc 604.1 is just north of Flomaton. Searchlights are long gone, replaced by Darth Vaders. Double track about to end, then it's single track with sidings until near Montgomery.

Use to hear that some of the crews of the Gulf Breeze would "moon" each other as they passed. Understand Our Division Supt, Mr. Kiefer, was riding one side and saw them. Maybe just a Sandhouse story, but it got around! Steve Panzik Chiloquin, Or Date: 11/29/20 19:15 Re: Gulf Breeze on the L&N Author: refarkas Those signals make it even better.
