Who needs color, anyhow? (pt 9)
Author: santafe199

We know the engines are dark blue, trimmed in yellow. We know the red-brick platform is red. We know the native Kansas limestone building columns are an off-white with a the slightest tinge of yellow. And we know the overcast sky is a light pastel grey. Otherwise Art would probably have been over on the right, shooting across those 6 tracks with the sun at his back.

No color? No problem…

Looking at some SFe history through rose-colored glasses… ;^)

It is refreshing to see the lack of paint overspray above the pilot, as is seen on so many Warbonnet units.  It could be that the black pilots on these models simply don't require frequent repainting, eh?

Good one Lance.  Thanks for posting and thanks to Art for shooting.  And yes, I looked, but the look didn't answer my question about 5901.  Is the windshield are painted yellow?  It appears that way, but I've never heard of that before.  Any information appreciated.

Of course it is. I must have 40-50 images of pre-1972 5900s in my files. Every single one of them have yellow trim around the windshields, Even the small bunch of pre- '69/70 renumbering 1900 Class F45s...
