Author: BobDempsey Actually, you can still enjoy the Miramar experience...if you can afford it. A new, luxury hotel has been built in its place...and the trains still run through the property. Very unique! Just don't expect to pay what you paid for a room at the old Miramar.

We would ride our bikes down to the Miramar and hang at the beach all day. There was still a wig-wag on the crossing at San Ysidro Rd on the corner of the hotel property that we used to climb at night and swing the banner so it would ring (stopped a few cars with that stunt). At 16 I bussed tables at the Miramar- one of my first jobs. They let me drive the electric cart to fill refrigerators around the hotel-
