WAG Wednesday: Alma Branch! (pt 5)
Author: santafe199

We press on with part #5 of the Alma Branch series…

1. AT&SF 3013 is today’s power for train #51, the Alma Branch local. The train is together, spotted on the back side of the depot at Burlingame, KS. The Eastern Division 1st District main line is visible on the right.

2. The blustery weather has turned thicker by the time the Harveyville, KS station stop is made.
Two B/W negatives by William A. Gibson (WAG) Sr.

3. Business has likely been concluded at Alma, KS. And the 3013 is turning itself on the WYE. The Santa Fe depot and the connection with the Rock Island are behind and to the left of the photographer's position.
B/W negative by William A. -Art- Gibson (WAG) Jr.
Photo date: February 14, 1953.

Next week we may take a break from the Alma series. I’m hearing through the grapevine that another installment of “Bill’s Boxcars” might just be in order. Stay tuned…

Thanks for looking back!

Interesting that the freight room floor was still at ground level then.  That's also a nice close-up of the tank-mounted spout.  The "string of pearls" dangling against the tank was the counterweight for the spout.
