Station Sunday

Three stations located on the North Jersey Coast Line that are no longer with us.

1. Long Branch, NJ. 1978.  Torn down when the new yard was built in late 1980's.  The railroad (CNJ) had offices upstairs.

2. Elberon station 1974.  It burned down in May 1988 during renovations (no surprise there).

3. Allenhurst, NJ. 1978.  It was torn down and replaced by a blah brick office building in 1982 despite being listed on the National Register of Historic Places.  Money talks.

Another view of the Allenhurst station (1980) and the local newspaper article from April 14, 1982 reporting its demise.
