The train in the picture is UP 3700. SD40M-2 's were MK rebuilds (from other RR's) for SP back in the Mid-1990's.

This picture is from the 1980 13-14 years before SP accepted delivery of the SD40M-2's.  Most of the SD40m-2' rebuilds were from SD45 Bodies (and therefore had the canted Radiators) but not all. My memory is fading but I believe on the SP they were numbered in the 8600/8700 Series before the merger and then UP renumbered in the 2700 series.

UP 4615 is a SD70M

Concur. Utah Rails website states built new Jan 1980, builder number 796297-42
=16px
