IRRC 9430 leads Train 2 at MP 148 near Atkinson IL on the old Rock on February 15, 1983. Today this is the Iowa Interstate. John Leopard photo from my collection

In Rock Island days, MP 148 was the end of the CTC that was controlled by the "Illinois" dispatcher.
From here to the West End of Bureau  was double track current of traffic,except
RI installed reverse Cab signaling on the South/Eastward track.  The South track had been re-tied and
was in pretty good shape.  This allowed Westbounds (mainly No. 57) to run at track speed with train order authority.
