3 Q GP7s
Author: MartyBernard

All three had steam generators, as I understand it, for branch line passenger trains.  The Q's other units with steam generators were Es and early SDs.  But I don't remember ever seeing pictures.

1. CB&Q GP7 209 built 1951 became BN 1565 in Downers Grove, IL on March 22, 1965.

2. CB&Q 234 with the East-End Way Freight in Downers Grove, IL on July 30, 1965. This GP7 was built in 1951 and became BN 1588.

3. CB&Q GP7 259 built 1953 became BN 1615 in Eola Yard, IL on September 1, 1964.

Enjoy,
Marty Bernard

Seeing the two photos of CB & Q GP7s in "Downers" Grove is a real "upper!"

All three had steam generators?

All three show the steam generator stack on the short hood and two clearly show the steam line just to the left of the coupler. The 259 doesn't appear to have retained the line by the time that photo was taken.

Thanks for sharing these Q slides. Both paint schemes look good.  --Kelly

Thanks for these, Marty.  Don't forgt the SD9's had steam generators.  There's a picture in "Twilight of the Great Trains" that shows one in Bridgeport, NE, handling a passenger train, I'm think the Brush, CO-Alliance, NE, train.
