The "City of San Francisco" has just past Truckee and heads up the hill to Norden.

Was Truckee a regular scheduled stop for the City of San Francisco?

That's a pretty photo. It belongs on the inside cover page of a book.  Thanks for sharing.

I believe that's the stub-end remnant of the Tahoe branch going off into the snow on the fireman's side of the PAs.

Edit:  After looking at old aerial photos of Truckee, I think it's a spur into a lumberyard/mill, and not a remnant of the Tahoe Branch.

I like it. I think I have a rough idea where you shot this from and feel inspired to see what this scene looks like today. I suspect that there are more trees that would mar the view toward the signal bridge and town. Thanks for sharing it...always a joy.

Classic! Love the power. Love the atmosphere created in the shot as well. Makes me feel cold!

Old SP RR Sacramento based passenger train crews worked to and from Sparks, NV.  Roseville, CA based engine crews worked to and from Sparks. At the time the above shot was taken in early 1960's.

Wasn't 102 eastbound and 101 west?  We now have 6 heading east and 5 west to EMY.
