MOP SD-40 3004 and SD-40-2 3220 round the curve at Cheyenne Hill, Kansas with an empty coal train. Cheyenne Hill is east of Hoisington, Kansas, just a few miles till the crew goes off duty. Date is April 16, 1979. This portion of MOP's Pueblo main line is still in service.

So these are westbound empties for the D&RGW correct?

Nice shot, Glenn!  Do you know where that crew went on duty?

Yes, empties to interchange with the Rio Grande in Pueblo. Crew change locations in Kansas on the MOP Pueblo mainline were (east to west): Osawatomie, Council Grove, Hoisington and Horace.
