SP SD40M-2 8683 leads a westbound UP train downgrade at Shawmut, AZ on 2/22/1997. 8683 was rebuilt by Morrison-Knudsen from N&W 1767. Was great having renewed power running around that SP desperately needed.

I never minded these rebuilt (and repainted) units either. Better than cinder blocks.
