GP40 3523 on the Ford Fast in Feb 1981. Shot from Main St in downtown Sunol, CA. The Niles Canyon Scenic's station would now be a short distance to the left, but at the time of the photo that line was still SP. Otherwise this scene still looks about the same today.

Is this FF after the Milpitas plant closed?  Seems to have a lot of non-Ford business on the head end.

The photo is Feb of 81, the Ford pland did not close till May of 83.

I think I remember them pulling through the wye at Niles and into the yard at Fremont where they would set out some cars before heading on to Milpitas. . The San Jose Turn did that as well at times.
