Nostalgia & History > CNJ Red BaronDate: 03/07/21 07:11 CNJ Red Baron Author: skyview CNJ 1525 in the one of several versions of the red and white scheme, seen here at Elizabethport, NJ in Nov of 1974. CNJ has only 17 more months before it ended as an entity and became part of Conrail. EPort was one of several stops on the circle tour of engine facilities railfans made at the time. Unlike today, no issues were ever had going into this facility.

Tom Date: 03/07/21 08:22 Re: CNJ Red Baron Author: icancmp193 Prior to being forced into Conrail, the CNJ Trustee had a plan to create a "super-terminal" railroad in the NJ/NY area. There were orders contemplated for GP38-2s, SW1500s and GE U23Cs, all of which would have looked pretty sharp in the Red Baron scheme!

as I recall EPort had a “bull” that would kick you out if he found you. I never experienced anything more than being told to leave so it wasn’t too traumatic (and after all, it was private property) but they certainly didn’t lay out the welcome mat :) By the way, keep those shots coming!
