Got this shot @ Rice Yard in Denver on 6/1/72 ... don't remember this scheme getting many (any?) votes from our gang ; ^ ). (#6463 was Q #522)
Pic 2 provides some idea how long this scheme was around ... I got CB&Q 519 @ Cheyenne on 2/12/69 ... #519 became BN #6460.

I like that scheme!

Judging by how few the railroad painted this way, I'd say it wasn't a hit there either.

Must have been before the famous BN logo was designed.

This scheme was the original BN scheme, and the first unit to get it was CB&Q GP40 629.  629 had the BN herald and name on the cab just like all the other BN units originally, and when the merger was postponed in 1968, it was relettered Burlington.  The Q SD45's were delivered in this scheme.  I kind of like this scheme, but until these units (and the U23C's) were delivered, Q freight trains had solid consists of Chinese Red units, so I didn't like polluting the pure sets.  BN rapidly repainted all their units in the green colors, and these units only lasted a few years.  BSB
