Flare Friday

Forgot about these commuter flares. NJT westbound somewhere in the wastelands on ex-EL trackage I believe with a GP40PH-2 leading an evening rush hour train on a hot, soupy summer day in the early 90s...

Definatly former EL trackage, originally DLW Boonton line severed in 1963 and connected to the former Erie main at Paterson.  Now designated the NJT main line.  Road bridge is the NJ Turnpike and the lift bridge beyond that crosses the Hackensack river. Geep was built as a GP40P with steam Gen for CNJ, later rebuilt with HEP getting PH-2 suffix.  Great mood shot  thanks for sharing!
