Amtrak in Kingston (yes Kingston!) and Rhinecliff, N.Y.
Author: pbrasky

A few days after my daughter's wedding, I went to the local RR yard to watch trains (and recover!) and ran into the local car repairman, who I was friendly with.  As I had no scanner, he told me there would soon be a northbound passenger movement on the controlled siding (inspection train?).  He was right and photo #1 caught it at Flatbush Avenue in Kingston (ca. mid June, 1998).  Photos #2 & #3 are from Rhinecliff Station, across the Hudson River from Kingston:   #2 is about to proceed south, while #3 has a clear signal @ CP 89 to proceed north. In both photos, the Hudson is just a few feet to my left.  Hope you enjoy these!

Great shots - Being friendly really paid off.

Yes it did, Bob.  In those days, I  pretty much knew the crews and yardmaster as well and got to know them better once I retired in 1999.
