Imagine trying to spot this unit in a snowstorm.  Good luck!  Not the most original paint scheme ever, but it is what it is.  Anyway color aside, this was sitting on one of the yard tracks at Clinton, Iowa, back on 6/26/99.  I was just coming on duty but was able to grab of couple of shots of it.  I've never seen this unit before or since.  I know it's a true 6000 horsepower SD90MAC, but I don''t know what ever happened to it.  Many of these units were scrapped outright (some not even lasting five years), while others were rebuilt into SD70MACS, or reasonable facsimiles thereof.   But I've never been able to find out the fate of this demo, nor it's sister unit, the GM #91.  If anyone knows the disposition of these demos kindly speak up.  I'd really like to know where they ended up.

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I believe this one is still painted white, and is still at LaGrange, IL and is a test unit for all sorts of emmisions testing for GM and EMD?

Yes, this was NOT a demonstrator but a test unit that "belonged" to the engineering department.

Yes, as I understand it this loco is a current test-bed at La Grange. Not to be pedantic but the 90mac h2s are 193 tonne locos.

None of the 6000hp production locos survived to operate now, but some that were built with 4300hp engines (UP called them SD9043MACs) are still on rosters here and there, rebuilt/modified generally.
