Remember seeing the towers under construction during visits to New York in 1970 and 1971.  
Did not get back to New York again until 1977, several years after the towers were completed.
Twenty years ago was a sad but memorable day.
Thanks for your posting.  You probably had no idea of how historic your photo would be.

Do u have a pic of the low side gondola coupled to the engine?   Appears to be LV.  Never saw one before..

Thats an idler gon they used on the "float jobs". That's LV slang for the switch jobs that worked the few remaining piers they had at the time. They had to have a light car to reach out onto the apron to pull cuts off of the car floats.
