Chopped Nose GP 9
Author: JanGAustin

I took this image in March 1991 of the eastbound Redding turn as it switched out autoracks loaded with Ford van chassis destined for the Fleetwood motorhome manufacturing facility at the Chico airport industrial park. At the time a lot of motorhomes were being built so this train would make set outs and pickups a few times each week. This train is on one of the two spur tracks ran between the depot and the mainline.

Technically not a chopped nose. Came that way from the EMD.

Would have loved to have seen those chassis sets handled by the SN branch out to the airport, would have been
great running on the streets of downtown Chico.

That's the power that you wanted to see, a set of older low nose geeps.

I usually caught the Redding with newer power, a pair of gp38-2s.

Nice catch and scene!
