Starting 1978 out with a long shadow

I vaguely remember shooting this slide. Mainly because it was a pretty cold day, and my 22 year old shadow was getting longer by the minute. But at that age I still thought I was bullet-proof! My thoughts 43 years later? One word: Brrr...

1. N&W 1558 + 2 more high-nosed hoods lead a westbound Union Pacific manifest at Bonner Springs, KS on January 1, 1978.

Thanks, gang! It was a semi-regular treat to see the foreign, hi-nosed N&W stuff in Kansas back in those days! This is most likely Salina-bound train #155, which will run over the KP west of Topeka. The North Platte trains usually always had to have a UP unit on point to run with the cab signal system...
