Nostalgia & History > Hold that Tiger - A Fall Saturday in the Columbia River GorgeDate: 10/09/21 11:02 Hold that Tiger - A Fall Saturday in the Columbia River Gorge Author: Goatboat Long before Tiger King, BN 33 passes Horsethief Lake at the east end of the Columbia River Gorge. Many of the GP50s' noses were repainted into the 'whiteface' scheme not long after this. October 14, 1989.

Great shot and scene. Date: 10/09/21 11:40 Re: Hold that Tiger - A Fall Saturday in the Columbia River Gorge Author: TCnR The Tiger stripes really date the photo.
Reminds me of the three SD50's with tiger stripes, long story and not the same story, but they had stripes. t4p. + great backdrop, nice light. You hit the Gorge at the right time; ++ SD60, agree with the comments below; Edited 2 time(s). Last edit at 10/10/21 11:22 by TCnR. Date: 10/09/21 17:27 Re: Hold that Tiger - A Fall Saturday in the Columbia River Gorge Author: wpjones I believe they were SD60's and were EMD owned. I know the 8301 ended up in EMD maroon and silver demo paint. Before the Oakways. BN never had any SD50's

Larry Date: 10/09/21 21:33 Re: Hold that Tiger - A Fall Saturday in the Columbia River Gorge Author: Mr-Beechcroft One of the best train photos I've ever seen...and I've seen a lot.
Adam Date: 10/10/21 11:02 Re: Hold that Tiger - A Fall Saturday in the Columbia River Gorge Author: Seventyfive Thanks for an excellent and intetesting photo. Having a B unit in a consist always makes for a great shot.
I too am surprised to see the open auto racks. In '89 I was working on an NS switch job at the Ford Plant in Chicago, and in my years there never saw one. Those bare hills in the scene are now likely covered with wind turbines. Date: 10/18/21 14:43 Re: Hold that Tiger - A Fall Saturday in the Columbia River Gorge Author: Goatboat Seventyfive Wrote:
