MOP Monday . . .

.   .   .   as usual, found this slide while looking for something else. Didn't take too many time exposures. This nearly new MP unit at UP's East Los Angeles yard in JUL '77 warranted a try.

Very cool!  One of the few Mopac SD40-2s built with dynamic brakes and equipped with a Mars light in the nose as discussed here a few weeks ago:

And coupled to a Centennial, no less!

Equipped with dynamic brakes only because their coal train pool partners demanded it.

Well done! I found the Mop notoriously hard to shoot at night, for obvious reasons. If you were shooting available, ambient light only you had to have a LOT of it...

Interesting to see that DB equipped unit end up on the UP so quickly after delivery knowing that was not the service she was purchased for.

Wow!  I was never aware that the Mop had some older SD40-2's with DB.  Only knew about the 6000's.  Thanks for enlightening me.
