Warbonnet Wednesday Trio

ATSF GP60M 158 is leading a westbound piggyback train across the long trestle between the Orwood and Trull bridges in the California Delta region. On this clear day you can make out the faint outline of the Sierra Nevada mountain range in the background.
Five 500 class B40-8W units led by ATSF 535 accelerate the hot 199 piggyback train west past an eastbound Super Fleet GP60M in the siding at Antioch, CA.
Skirting the banks of the San Joaquin River, ATSF C40-8W 878 is in charge of another westbound piggyback train at Antioch, CA. The structure on the right is the Antioch Lumber Company building that was originally constructed in 1864, and has been well preserved and used today as a real estate office.
Thanks for looking! Randy

Nice!  Looks like they were in the process of converting the trestle from wood to concrete at the time, which would put the date somewhere in the mid-to-late 1990's.  It took quite a while to convert the mile or so of trestlework, progressin slowly eastbound from the staffed and fully functional bascule at Orwood to its "12 hours advance notice" twin at Middle River.  I recall there was a 10 mph slow order over the whole trestle during that time, which was great for chasers as it gave a person enough time to get a train at Bixler, drop down to Highway 4, and just beat the train to Holt.

Signal 11494 was the eastbound signal at the east end of Sando siding between Antioch and Oakley.  The "Desert Storm" flags put the date between 1991-93.
