Nostalgia & History > Lafayette IN street runningDate: 01/15/22 09:46 Lafayette IN street running Author: Hoosieroad March 25, 1994 shows 2 southbounds on the CSX's former Monon mainline right down 5th St. In less than 4 months this seen would be no more, much to the happiness of the citizens of Lafayette and sadness of railfans. The new route would be the multi year bypass a few blocks west along the Wabash River side by side with NS.
Photo 1 shows ex SCL 6753 passing the Monon limestone passenger depot in the background. Mulhaupts Schwinn is now Mulhaupts security doors. 2 and 3 are further south where the line departed 5th at Romig street Date: 01/15/22 09:55 Re: Lafayette IN street running Author: Conch Great street running views. I didn't realize CSX ran long hood forward or was this unusual?
