1. Engine used for handling ore trains on the Duluth, Missabe and Northern Railroad circa 1915.

2. First grain warehouse on the line of the Northern Pacific Railroad west of Duluth, Detroit Lakes, 1893.

3. North Dakota Farmers' Institute Train run by the Northern Pacific Railroad circa 1912.

4. St. Paul, Duluth Railroad construction train on railroad bridge, Lindstrom circa 1880.  [How wuld you like to be a brakeman on top of that train?]

5. The Grocers' Arch erected for the Northern Pacific Railroad celebrations in St. Paul, 1883.

6. Chicago Great Western railroad yards near Starkey and Wood, St. Paul, 1895.

I'd never look at the structure in photo 2 and think "grain warehouse".   It clearly didn't take long for creative people to start finding bigger and better solutions than what we see in the first one here.

#6 looks like State Street Yard looking west off Robert Street.  I had not heard of teh streets listed, but that's not unusual for me..

Why are the 5th and 6th bents from the right double framed?
